Summary
This event will focus on five objectives of the AODA program which encompass both prevention and intervention services. Prevention programs are designed to help students avoid or minimize future problems related to alcohol and other drug use, while intervention programs are designed to help students who are already experiencing problems.
The discretionary grant program supports the development and expansion of district-wide comprehensive, kindergarten through grade 12, alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and early intervention programming as part of a coordinated school health program.

Description
The training will focus on five objectives:
- Build awareness of substance use data and trends
- Grow understanding of best practices for prevention programming in schools
- Recognize options for substance use intervention (Tier 2 & 3) and alternatives to suspension
- Review current policies and identify the role of policy in comprehensive programming
- Identify possible goals, resources, and action steps to support student success

- Staff involved in prevention, intervention and policy review
This event is open to all CESA 12 school districts. In order for participants to benefit at the highest level, a minimum of two people per district is strongly encouraged.
Participation is required for schools in the AODA Consortium Grant (see below).
